Arsenal reportedly emerge as the frontrunners to secure a deal for Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez.

Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez has reportedly emerged as a top transfer target for Arsenal.

With Granit Xhaka potentially joining Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard in dropping out of the Gunners' squad for next season, Mikel Arteta is in need of reinforcements in the middle of the pitch.

According to Marca, the Arsenal manager is interested in bringing Rodriguez to the Emirates Stadium over the coming weeks.

Having enjoyed a strong campaign with Betis in La Liga, the 27-year-old is now making a positive impression with Argentina at the Copa America.

While Betis have little interest in parting ways with a player who still has three years left on his contract, they may wish to boost their financial position with the sale of one of their star men.

Rodriguez cost just £2.7m when Betis signed him from Club America at the beginning of 2020.
