Meghan Markle reveals that Kate Middleton was the one who made her cry ahead of her wedding in 2018 - the reverse of tabloid reports at the time.

Meghan Markle has claimed that her sister-in-law Kate Middleton made her cry in the run-up to her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.

In the Sussexes' tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle was asked about a tabloid story, published months after the wedding, which alleged that she had made Middleton cry in a dispute over which dresses the flower girls would wear.

"The reverse happened," she replied. "I don't say that to be disparaging to anyone, because it was a really hard week of the wedding. She was upset about something, but she owned it and apologised. I protected that from ever being out in the world.

"A few days before the wedding, she was upset about flower girl dresses and it made me cry and it hurt my feelings. It wasn't a confrontation. I don't think it's fair to her to go into the details of that because she apologised and I've forgiven her.

"Everyone in the institution knew it wasn't true. I would have hoped she would have wanted it corrected. She's a good person."

The interview airs in the UK on ITV at 9pm tonight.
