Baltimore Ravens linebacker Malik Harrison suffers a 'non-life threatening' injury after being struck by a stray bullet in the calf, the club announces.

The Baltimore Ravens have announced that linebacker Malik Harrison has suffered a "non-life threatening" injury after being hit by a stray bullet.

The 23-year-old was attending a gathering in Cleveland on Sunday evening when he was hit in the calf, the Ravens confirmed in a statement on social media.

Malik's injuries were described as "non-life threatening" and head coach John Harbaugh has now delivered an update on the situation.

Harbaugh said in a video posted to Twitter: "I haven't had a chance to speak with him. I don't think it's severe at all. We're in the process of getting it checked out with the doctors - I haven't heard back on that report yet.

"It was in the lower leg so I'm optimistic that it's going to be okay. I'm very grateful that he's okay and not hurt worse - anything can happen. It's a tough situation."

The Ravens are next in action on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings as they seek to recover from last week's crushing 17-41 defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals.
