Nico Rosberg records quickest time in final practice session

Nico Rosberg comes out on top in the final practice session ahead of the Australian Grand Prix as Mercedes impress again.

Nico Rosberg has recorded the quickest time in the third and final practice session ahead of the Australian Grand Prix.

The Mercedes driver impressed in Melbourne to set the fastest time of the meeting so far, and his 1:29.375 lap ensured he was over 1.3 seconds ahead of his closest rival.

Rosberg's teammate Lewis Hamilton, who came out on top in yesterday's second practice session, was forced to settle for the fourth quickest time ahead of qualifying later today, but he did not complete a lap on the fastest set of tyres.

Jenson Button handed McLaren a boost by finishing second in the session, while Ferrari's Fernando Alonso was one place further back when the cars were brought in.

Defending champion Sebastian Vettel was back in 12th position as he continues to search for form in his Red Bull car.
