Welcome to Sports Mole's live transfer blog for Sunday, August 16. Without further ado, let's take a look at the key news coming out overnight. Manchester City have denied reports that they have made a £50m bid for Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin de Bruyne. More on that one right here.

Paris-Saint Germain manager Laurent Blanc is hoping to retain the services of midfielder Thaigo Motta, despite the Italy international expressing a desire to rejoin La Liga side Atletico Madrid. More on that here.

Chelsea are said to have had a bid rejected for Galatasaray's Brazilian left-back Alex Telles as they look to replace Filipe Luis. Read more here.

Liverpool have already made a number of signing this summer, but it looks like Brendan Rodgers wants at least one more, as it's being reported that he has demanded the club sign Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev. The two clubs are said to be discussing a £14.2m deal for the Russian international.

Bournemouth could be making another new addition to their squad in the next couple of weeks, as Crystal Palace midfielder Adlene Guedioura is being linked with the Cherries.

Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven have been adding to their squad, bringing in Mexican international Hector Morena on a four-year contract from Espanyol.

With just a couple of weeks left for clubs to bring new signings in, most clubs are being linked with a number of players. However, West Brom manager Tony Pulis insists that he will be making some surprise signings.

Sunderland have had a difficult start to the season, suffering heavy defeats in both of their league matches so far. Things could get worse though, as it would appear that striker Jermain Defoe is keen to leave the club following interest from Bournemouth.

Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic has been linked with Liverpool this summer, but it looks like Brendan Rodgers side are facing competition for the Croatian, as Real Madrid have reportedly bid for the 21-year-old.

DONE DEAL! Chesterfield have announced that they have signed Spanish midfielder Angel Martinez. The 29-year-old spent last season with Millwall, and have previously had a stint with Blackpool.

Rumours of an Arsenal move for Karim Benzema have persisted throughout the summer, but still the Frenchman remains a Real Madrid player. Well, it looks like the Gunners have prepared a Plan B, lining up Edinson Cavani if they are unable to secure Benzema.

Marseille midfielder Florian Thauvin has repeatedly been linked with a move to Newcastle United in recent weeks, and it looks like a deal is growing closer, with reports suggested a deal is now in place.

The agent of Ivan Perisic has been speaking about the Wolfsburg winger's future, warning Inter Milan that they must submit an increased bid if they wish to land him this summer.

Swansea City have made a bright start to their Premier League campaign, and manager Garry Monk appears to be closing on another new signing. Falkirk manager Peter Houston says that a move for striker Botti Biabi is "close" to being completed.

Dropping down to the Football League now, and Swindon Town boss Mark Cooper has admitted that he is still seeking more recruits before the transfer window closes. Read his comments in full right here.

Much of Everton's transfer talk has surrounded the potential departure of defender John Stones this summer. However, one report this evening suggests that the Toffees could look to spring a surprise with a planned bid for Ukrainian maestro Andriy Yarmolenko.

A huge piece of news is potentially being reported by football journalist Gulliem Balague this evening. According to the reporter, Manchester City have all but wrapped up a deal for highly-rated Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi, with the transfer expected to be announced at some point tomorrow.

Victor Valdes has spent a rather unsettled spell at Manchester United. One report tonight is stating that the former Barcelona stopper could be given a lifeline by Besiktas this summer.
