Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking at Southampton's Jannik Vestergaard, as doubts arise over the availability of Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard, as doubts arise over bringing Milan Skriniar to North London.

The Inter Milan centre-back has been a long-term target for Spurs, however as he has become a key figure for Antonio Conte at San Siro, a transfer to bring him to the Premier League may become difficult.

As an alternative the Lilywhites are looking at 28-year-old Vestergaard, who only has one year left on his contract at St Mary's.

According to a report in The Express, it would cost Spurs £18m to take the Danish international away from the Saints, as he is regarded as an integral part of the first team by Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Tottenham are under pressure defensively having conceded two goals at St James' Park on Sunday, and have been shopping for central defenders since Jose Mourinho's arrival.

Vestergaard has been at Southampton since 2018, making 70 appearances and contributing four goals for the club.
