Newcastle United are reportedly unwilling to meet Danny Rose's wage demands of £60,000 a week.

Danny Rose looks set to remain at Tottenham Hotspur this summer after Newcastle United reportedly refused to meet the left-back's wage demands of £60,000 a week.

The 29-year-old, who spent seven years at Spurs, is viewed as surplus to requirements under Mauricio Pochettino and has been allowed to find a new club.

Newly-appointed Newcastle boss Steve Bruce had pinpointed Rose - valued at around £20m - as one of his key targets for this transfer window.

However, according to The Sun, a deal to bring Rose to St James' Park looks to be off due to Newcastle's refusal to countenance Rose's demands of £60,000 a week.

The Toon, whose acquisition of Hoffenheim forward Joelinton for £39.6m has been their only piece of business this summer, are said to be targeting players who will accept £50,000-a-week contracts.

Reports have claimed that both Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus - two clubs more than capable of satisfying Rose's wage demands - are leading the race for the England international.
