Unstoppable Tottenham Hotspur hit four at Huddersfield Town

Tottenham Hotpsur move up to third in the Premier League after hitting four without reply at Huddersfield Town.

Tottenham Hotspur have maintained their 100% away record in the Premier League this season with an emphatic 4-0 victory away to Huddersfield Town.

England international Harry Kane hit two in the first half to cap off his best ever September, with a Ben Davies strike sandwiched in between, as Mauricio Pochettino's side ran riot at the John Smith's Stadium to as good as secure the points before the interval.

David Wagner's charges attempted to take the game to Tottenham, firing a warning shot inside the first five minutes when Laurent Depoitre picked out Tommy Smith in the opposition's half with a clever ball, allowing the midfielder to test Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal from long range.

Committing more bodies forward, the Terriers were caught out at the back moments later when Kane latched on to Kieran Trippier's long ball and placed a low strike beyond Jonas Lossl, finding the bottom corner.

Spurs made it 2-0 courtesy of a blistering team move minutes later, which ended when Christian Eriksen danced around Chris Lowe and laid the ball on for Davies to tap home from inside the penalty area.

Kane took his September tally to 13 for club and country in the 24th minute with an impressive solo goal, creating space for himself on the edge of the box before bending a strike into the top corner, beyond a helpless Lossl.

Spurs continued to press and could have had a fourth on the half-hour mark when Dele Alli gained possession inside the area, shook off his marker and fired across the goalkeeper, his effort coming back off the far post.

The traffic was largely one-way in the first period, but Huddersfield did hit the woodwork themselves just before the break as Depoitre used his pace and strength to get goalside of his marker and let fly, his effort beating Lloris and rattling the frame of the goal.

Chances were far fewer in the second period as Huddersfield laid out a tighter stall, but Spurs almost added to their lead minutes after the restart when Eriksen's ball across the face of goal was inches away from picking out Kane in front of an empty net.

Pochettino's men lowered the tempo during the closing stages, only to snatch goal number four in stoppage time through substitute Moussa Sissoko, who capitalised on confusion among the Huddersfield defence to tap home his first Spurs goal from close range.

The emphatic win fires Spurs up to third in the table, while Huddersfield's first home defeat leaves them 10th ahead of the afternoon's other Premier League fixtures.
