Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Aston Villa

Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham Hotspur's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Aston Villa.

Tottenham Hotspur could close the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea to just one point when they return to Premier League action away to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho's side slipped down to sixth during their mid-season break, but go into this weekend's match unbeaten in their last six outings across all competitions.

A 2-0 win over Manchester City in their last Premier League outing boosted their hopes of securing Champions League football next season and, with Chelsea not playing until Monday night, they have the chance to pile the pressure on their London rivals with victory over relegation-threatened Villa.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Giovani Lo Celso

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Aston Villa)

Giovani Lo Celso has emerged as a key player for Mourinho in a deeper role in recent weeks but missed the last match due to a muscle problem. The Argentine will be monitored ahead of this weekend's clash, but the problem is not thought to be serious and he could therefore be in line to feature again.

Erik Lamela

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Aston Villa)

Erik Lamela also missed the FA Cup replay against Southampton due to a muscular injury, but he too could recover in time for this weekend following the mid-season break.

Harry Kane

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Spurs will have to embark on their top-four challenge without star striker Harry Kane until April at the earliest, with Mourinho recently suggesting that the England international should be back in time for the final two games of the season.

Moussa Sissoko

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Moussa Sissoko suffered a long-term injury in the same match as Kane, and he too will not return until the closing stages of the season.

Ben Davies

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: February 16 (vs. Aston Villa)

Ben Davies has been sidelined since Mourinho's first match in charge but returned to training just before the winter break and has been using the time off to get back up to speed. The full-back is expected to be in contention for Sunday's trip to Villa Park.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR'S SUSPENSION LIST

Spurs have no players suspended for this match, while Steven Bergwijn is available again after being ineligible to face Southampton last time out.
