The first chance of the match fell to Javier Morales, but his effort from outside the box was well saved.
Olmes Garcia also had an effort saved as Real continued to control the play, and right before the break they were finally rewarded for their efforts.
Alvarez was set up by Garcia to fire into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
The second half turned soured when Tony Beltran for Real and Doneil Henry for Toronto were sent off for fighting, and the hosts were unable to get back into the game.
