Albion Rovers earn Scottish Cup replay against Rangers

League Two side Albion Rovers hang on for a 1-1 draw at Ibrox, earning a Scottish Cup quarter-final replay against Rangers.

Scottish League Two side Albion Rovers have earned a Scottish Cup quarter-final replay against Rangers by holding on for a 1-1 draw at Ibrox.

Early on Rangers were doing all the pressing and almost took the lead after eight minutes when Lee Wallace's cross was headed just wide by Jon Daly.

Minutes later Albion took a shock lead when Ciaran Donnelly stabbed home in the box after Rangers failed to clear a corner.

Just before half time, Dean Shiels almost levelled the score, but his low shot was kept out by Neil Parry in the Rovers goal.

Five minutes after the break, Daly had a good chance to equalise but couldn't hit the target after being picked out at the back post.

The bombardment from the hosts continued and next to come close was David Templeton, whose volley hit the crossbar in the 63rd minute.

They finally broke through with 13 minutes on the clock when Templeton's high ball into the box was headed into the net by Bilel Mohsni. Parry fell that he was fouled when trying to catch the ball, but referee John Beaton didn't agree.

Although Rangers pushed and pushed for a late winner, Albion held on for a memorable draw and a quarter-final replay.
