How Paris Saint-Germain could line up against Montpellier HSC

Sports Mole looks at how Paris Saint-Germain could line up for Saturday's Ligue 1 clash with Montpellier HSC.

Paris Saint-Germain travel south on Saturday for a potentially tricky meeting with Montpellier HSC in Ligue 1.

Thomas Tuchel's side head into the game knowing that victory would restore their eight-point lead over Marseille at the top of Ligue 1.

However, they will be wary of the threat carried by the home side, who are currently on a seven-game unbeaten run.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how PSG could line up for this fixture.

POSSIBLE PSG XI v MONP

Out: Ander Herrera (thigh), Marco Verratti (thigh), Eric Choupo-Moting (back), Loic Mbe Soh (groin)
Doubtful: None

Tuchel has been proficient with rotating his options so far this season, especially with regard to his defenders, with the German giving youngsters a chance when more important players need rests.

A case in point is Colin Dagba, who has shared the duties at right-back with Thomas Meunier – a key player who has suffered with niggling injuries since the summer.

Such has also been the case with Abdou Diallo in central defence, often coming in for Ligue 1 games in order to preserve the first-choice pairing of Presnel Kimpembe and Thiago Silva for the Champions League.

Having sat out for Layvin Kurzawa during the 2-0 win over Nantes on Wednesday, Juan Bernat looks set to assume his place in the left-back slot.

Injuries to Verratti and Herrera mean that Tuchel's options in the middle are considerably limited, with the same trio of Marquinhos, Idrissa Gueye and Julian Draxler likely to start the game.

The latter, injured at the beginning of the season, has impressed down the left channel in recent weeks, linking up nicely with the effervescent Angel Di Maria.

Complementing the Argentine on the other side will be Neymar, who only very recently returned from injury and will likely want to play every minute over the next few weeks to get fully back up to speed.

One player already going at top speed is Kylian Mbappe, whose goal against Nantes was a thing of beauty, darting into the box and flicking home a low cross that went behind him with his heel – a haunting example to Montpellier of what the World Cup winner can do when he reaches top gear.
