Next Southampton manager

Southampton are on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Mauricio Pellegrino with only eight games of the Premier League campaign remaining.

A run of only one win in 17 Premier League matches has left the Saints sitting just one point and one place above the relegation zone.

A 3-0 defeat at Newcastle United proved to be the final straw for the Southampton board, who have reportedly identified Mark Hughes as their leading candidate to take over at St Mary's.

The likes of Marco Silva and Slaven Bilic have also been linked with the job, though, as Southampton look to preserve their Premier League status for another year.
