Motherwell edge out Kilmarnock

Motherwell beat Kilmarnock 2-1 at Fir Park to climb up to third in the Scottish Premiership.

Motherwell have moved into third in the Scottish Premiership with a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock at Fir Park.

Meanwhile, defeat means that Allan Johnston's men remain just one point above 11th-placed St Mirren, who have played one fewer game.

It was the visitors who took the lead through Darren Barr in the 17th minute, but Henri Anier struck three minutes later to level the score.

Kilmarnock switched off just before half time, as John Sutton scored seconds before the whistle to put his team in front at the break.

Kris Boyd wasted a trio of decent opportunities to claw Killie level, but Lee Hollis remained unbeaten for the rest of the day in the hosts' goal.

However, Simon Ramsden saw red late on after picking up his second yellow card.
