Middlesbrough boss Garry Monk suggests that he is in no rush to make new signings ahead of next season.

Middlesbrough boss Garry Monk has suggested that he will bide his time before making significant additions to his first-team squad.

Soon after the end of last season, Monk made the decision to make the switch from Leeds United to the Riverside Stadium but with less than a month to go until the start of the new campaign, their biggest signing remains 20-year-old Luxembourg international Enes Mahmutovic.

However, Monk has reassured supporters by claiming that he is happy with his current group of players, while still scouring the market for talent that can make a difference in their first year back in the Championship.

The 38-year-old told talkSPORT: "It is a club in a really good stable condition. It is a good core that we have got here as well. I can see the determination amongst the players that had that experience [of relegation] last season and want to try to put that right so that is always a good sign.

"I think there's a really good core. They're all fantastic lads and they've all been really receptive straight away, but of course like any club you have to think about what you want to do and how you want the squad to look at the end of the window and how to shape it.

"Myself and the club are working hard with that. I'm sure the squad will start to take shape. It's about looking forward, having a good pre-season and having a good start to the season."

Middlesbrough begin the season with a trip to Molineux to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 5.
