Mustapha Carayol scores late in the first half to give Middlesbrough a 1-0 lead over Nottingham Forest at half time.

Mustapha Carayol has given Middlesbrough a 1-0 lead over Nottingham Forest at half time in their Championship game at the Riverside Stadium this evening.

Forest made a quick start to the match, as Lewis McGugan took a shot in the opening minute, but Sammy Ameobi deflected the effort out for a corner that was headed wide by Elliot Ward.

Two minutes later, McGugan had another effort on goal for the visitors from a free kick, before his corner set Simon Cox up for a header that forced a save from Jason Steele.

As the home side found their way into the game, Scott McDonald had an effort from distance, but Karl Darlow was able to tip the ball over the crossbar.

Carayol picked up the ball on the edge of the penalty area just before half time, firing it past Darlow to give Tony Mowbray's men the lead.
