Shanghai Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo could reportedly remain on loan at Manchester United until January 2021.

Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo could reportedly be allowed to remain on loan at Manchester United until January 2021.

The 30-year-old joined the Red Devils on loan from Shanghai Shenhua in the final stages of this year's winter transfer window and has scored four times in his eight appearances for the English giants.

As it stands, the striker is due to return to China at the end of May, but the possible reappearance of the 2019-20 Premier League season has led to talk of the agreement being extended.

According to Sky Sports News, Shanghai are open to allowing Ighalo to remain with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side until next January, although they will expect him to sign a new deal with the Chinese outfit.

The attacker's existing contract with his parent club is due to expire in December 2022, although it is thought that he has been offered a new and improved deal until December 2024.

United moved for Ighalo in January due to Marcus Rashford's back injury, but the England international has since returned to training ahead of a potential comeback in June.
