A report claims that Manchester United have officially made their move for Porto left-back Alex Telles by tabling a £12m bid.

Manchester United have reportedly made an opening bid of £12m for Alex Telles in the hope that Porto lower their asking price for the left-back.

The Red Devils are looking to provide Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams with some additional competition in what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has pinpointed as a troublesome position.

Sergio Reguilon was for a while considered United's top target, only to join Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur from Real Madrid earlier this month.

Telles is now being eyed up by Solskjaer and, according to The Guardian, United have officially made their move.

However, their bid is some way off the £18m Porto are believed to be holding out for, despite the 27-year-old being in the final year of his contract.

The report indicates that United remain confident of landing their man, with the Portuguese giants expected to blink first in the standoff.
