Gary Neville claims that Manchester United may want to keep Jesse Lingard next season after his impressive loan spell at West Ham United.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has claimed that his former club might want Jesse Lingard back at the end of the season after impressing on loan at West Ham United.

The 28-year-old has been in prolific form at West Ham since being loaned out by the Red Devils in January, scoring six goals and adding four assists in eight appearances.

The England international opened the scoring in West Ham's 3-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night after running with the ball for 60 yards while dribbling past the Wolves defence.

After the game, former Man United defender Neville was full of praise for Lingard, telling Sky Sports News: "He's a really good player. He does an incredible amount of running. It's what he does. He's good out of possession and good in possession.

"Manchester United have sent him out to West Ham to boost his career, maybe with the thought of boosting his price tag, but they might be thinking, 'actually, we might want him back, he could be a real help to us'."

Lingard has played 210 games for the Red Devils, scoring 33 goals and registering 20 assists.
