Manchester United transfer news: Grealish move on hold, Sancho deal close, Zaha boost

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Manchester United on Wednesday, August 5.

Manchester United's season is not over just yet, with the club still competing for Europa League glory, but the Red Devils will soon turn their attention to a proposed busy summer of spending.

Despite the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, United have been linked with big-money moves for a number of highly-rated players as of late, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to turn United into the force they once were ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.

Wednesday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:

Report: Manchester United to move late for Jack Grealish

Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish has been persistently linked with a switch to Old Trafford, after the Englishman captained Villa to Premier League survival in the most recent campaign.

However, Dean Smith's side are believed to be driving a hard bargain for the 24-year-old and will not part ways with their captain for anything less than a staggering £80m.

According to the Daily Mail, United will therefore prioritise other targets early on in the window before revisiting their interest in the Villa captain later on.

Grealish notched up eight goals and six assists in the 2019-20 Premier League season, and the Villa man is under contract in the West Midlands until 2023.

Manchester United to complete Jadon Sancho deal by end of the week?

Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho has attracted the interest of a number of top European sides, but it appears that United are closing in on his signature after a protracted transfer saga.

The 20-year-old chalked up 17 goals and 17 assists in the 2019-20 Bundesliga campaign and now has under two years left to run on his current deal at the Westfalenstadion, although United and Dortmund were reported to have hit a stumbling block in negotiations with regards to a transfer fee.

However, according to The Independent, an agreement has been reached on an initial £60m payment for the former Manchester City youngster, possibly rising to £120m.

Sancho is believed to have already agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, who are keen to add more firepower to their frontline ahead of next season.

'Manchester United, Chelsea 'handed Wilfried Zaha boost'

Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha was expected to depart Selhurst Park last summer, but the Ivory Coast international ultimately remained in South London for the 2020-21 campaign.

Zaha failed to hit his normal high standards during the most recent season - chalking up four goals and five assists from 38 Premier League outings - but the 27-year-old continues to be linked with a move to a top-six club.

Now, The Sun reports that Palace are set to take a significant financial hit as they lower their asking price for Zaha from £80m to £30m.

With Manchester United and Chelsea both believed to be monitoring the situation, Zaha could represent an ideal signing during this period of financial uncertainty amid the coronavirus pandemic.
