Manchester United are reportedly ready to reignite their interest in Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, but are only willing to pay up to £63m for the defender.

Manchester United are reportedly ready to reignite their interest in Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Red Devils have regularly been linked with the 29-year-old in recent transfer windows, only for Napoli's world-record asking price to effectively rule out any deal.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Napoli could be forced to lower their demands for their star defender after missing out on a Champions League place for 2020-21.

The Italian outfit finished seventh in Serie A and reportedly need to raise as much as €150m (£134.9m) in player sales this summer to offset the financial impact of no Champions League football.

United would be willing to offer up to €70m (£63m) for the Senegal international, which is a significant decrease on Napoli's old asking price but would also make up almost half of their desired sum in total.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is known to be in the market for a new central defender this summer, although local rivals Manchester City have also been linked with a move for Koulibaly.
