A report claims that James Rodriguez wants to return to Real Madrid in the summer, rather than stay on at Bayern Munich, despite being unwanted at the Bernabeu.

James Rodriguez has reportedly ruled out a permanent move to Bayern Munich at the end of the season, leaving his career in limbo.

The Colombia international has spent the past two seasons on loan at the Allianz Arena from Real Madrid, where he is unwanted.

Zinedine Zidane's return to the Bernabeu dugout, combined with the arrival of fellow non-EU player Eder Militao, is said to have ended any hopes James had of breaking back into Los Blancos' first-team squad next season.

Despite a vast improvement in form at Bayern in recent months, though, Marca claims that the 26-year-old is not interested in staying on in Bavaria.

Bayern had the option of signing James on a permanent deal for £36m, and that is the sum Real are supposedly looking to recoup should another interested club step forward with an offer.

Serie A sides Juventus and Napoli are believed to be leading the race to sign the former Monaco ace, while Liverpool and Manchester United are also monitoring developments.
