Jose Mourinho believes that David Moyes will be a good fit at Manchester United and that the Premier League champions chose the right man to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson.

Jose Mourinho believes that Manchester United made the right decision when they chose David Moyes as the successor to retired manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Former Everton boss Moyes was selected to take over the Old Trafford hotseat that Ferguson surrendered in May following 26 years in charge of the Red Devils.

Mourinho was linked with the United job himself before sealing a return to Chelsea, but admits that Moyes is deserving of the opportunity of managing one of the Premier League's elite clubs.

"They have made good decisions," he said. "David proved himself at Everton. Okay, no trophies, but it's not easy to get a trophy when you manage Everton and he was not far from doing that.

"He has good experience, good work. I am more than happy, and I feel very happy for him. Man United will give him the time to adapt to a new dimension.

"He has never played a Champions League match so people can't expect him to be a fish in water in that first match. Give him time, stability. United is perfect for that, so that's a very good choice."

Despite being touted for the United job, Mourinho has insisted that he was not interested in the position.
