Anthony Martial keen to score more scrappy goals at Manchester United

Anthony Martial has spoken of his desire to score more scrappy goals at Manchester United this season.

The Frenchman enjoyed a positive start to the 2019-20 campaign at Old Trafford, scoring against Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers, only to suffer a thigh injury against Crystal Palace.

However, United fans were pleased to see him return to action off the bench during United's 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

Speaking to Inside United ahead of the draw with Jurgen Klopp's side, Martial said: "If I could score 30 goals like I scored in the game against Chelsea, I would take that right now! We all prefer beautiful goals but, at the end of the day, a goal is still a goal.

"I guess I have tended to score quite nice goals and so, if I managed to score more of this kind of goal, in addition to the more spectacular ones, then I'd end up with a much higher goals total come the end of the season."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to have grown irritated with both Martial and Marcus Rashford last season due to their inability to score poacher's goals from close range.

Martial has only reached double figures in two Premier League seasons at the Theatre of Dreams, claiming 11 during the 2015-16 campaign and netting 10 last term.
