Reading striker Adam Le Fondre has revealed that he would "love" to score the winning goal against Manchester City as he is a lifelong Manchester United fan.
Although Reading do not meet City for the first time since their return to the Premier League until December 22, Le Fondre is still keen to help out the club that turned him down as a youngster.
"I went for a six-week trial [at United] over the school holidays, training three times a week," the Daily Star quotes Le Fondre as saying. "Then we played a practice match and I scored a hat-trick and we won 5-1 – but they let me go.
"I'd love to score against United but I think I'd prefer to hit the winner at the Etihad!
"[The visit of United] is my birthday so it will be a good present if I score. Then Old Trafford is in March. I'll have a ticket list of about 50 family for that one!"
Le Fondre has 13 league goals for Reading since signing for the club last season.
