Danny Blind makes U-turn by including Memphis Depay in Netherlands squad

Danny Blind makes a U-turn by including Manchester United winger Memphis Depay in his Netherlands squad after initially ruling him out.

Netherlands boss Danny Blind appears to have had a change of heart after including Manchester United winger Memphis Depay in his squad for friendlies against Wales and Germany.

Blind had left Depay out of his initial squad last week, later accusing the 21-year-old of not being a 'team player'.

Now, though, the former PSV Eindhoven footballer has been included, alongside Ajax midfielder Riechedly Bazoer, who is yet to be capped at senior international level.

Fenerbahce striker Robin van Persie was left out of the squad, while there was also no place for goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet.

The Netherlands failed to qualify for the Euro 2016 finals last month.

Netherlands squad:

Goalkeepers: Jasper Cillessen (Ajax Amsterdam), Maarten Stekelenburg (Southampton), Kenneth Vermeer (Feyenoord)

Defenders: Daley Blind (Manchester United), Jeffrey Bruma (PSV Eindhoven), Daryl Janmaat (Newcastle United), Terence Kongolo (Feyenoord), Jairo Riedewald, Kenny Tete (both Ajax Amsterdam), Virgil van Dijk (Southampton), Joel Veltman (Ajax Amsterdam)

Midfielders: Riechedly Bazoer (Ajax Amsterdam), Jordy Clasie (Southampton), Davy Klaassen (Ajax Amsterdam), Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray), Marko Vejinovic (Feyenoord), Georginio Wijnaldum (Newcastle United)

Forwards: Luuk de Jong (PSV Eindhoven), Memphis Depay (Manchester United), Bas Dost (VfL Wolfsburg), Eljero Elia (Feyenoord), Klaas Jan Huntelaar (Schalke 04), Quincy Promes (Spartak Moscow), Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich)
