How Manchester United could line up against Bournemouth

Sports Mole looks at how Man United could line up for their Premier League clash with Bournemouth as they bid to continue their 100% start under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United will bring a turbulent 2018 to a close on Sunday when they host Bournemouth at Old Trafford in their final game of the year.

The green shoots of recovery are starting to appear following back-to-back wins under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who took over from the sacked Jose Mourinho just a week before Christmas.

However, the Red Devils remain eight points adrift of the Champions League places at the halfway stage of the season and still have plenty of work to do if they are to challenge for a top-four spot.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how United could line up for their Premier League clash with Bournemouth.

Possible MNU XI vs. BOU

Out: Chris Smalling (foot), Marcos Rojo (unspecified)
Doubtful: Scott McTominay (unspecified), Alexis Sanchez (hamstring), Romelu Lukaku (compassionate leave), Anthony Martial (illness)

Solskjaer has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial will all undergo late fitness tests ahead of this match, although even if all three are available, the interim boss may look to keep changes to a minimum.

United have played two different systems in Solskjaer's two games at the helm so far, but the likes of Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard are expected to feature regardless of the formation used.

If Lukaku is not thrown straight back into the starting lineup then Marcus Rashford will likely lead the line once again, with Martial pushing for a recall if fit.

Ashley Young could also return to the starting lineup in place of Diogo Dalot, while Ander Herrera is in contention to replace Fred in the XI.
