Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany could make his return from calf injury during Belgium's World Cup qualifier against Macedonia on Friday night.
The complaint has kept the centre-back from playing for champions City since the end of January.
However, assistant coach Vidal Borkelmans has claimed that the 26-year-old could be fit enough to represent his country at the end of the week.
"We will make about Wednesday a point whether he plays or not," Borkelmans told Sky Sports News. "He must listen to the body. He must say, 'I am okay' and then it is a decision of the coach."
Kompany has made 52 appearances for the European nation.
