Manchester City 'refusing to blink over Raheem Sterling deal'

Manchester City are refusing to pay Raheem Sterling the £300,000-a-week wages that he is after, according to a report.

Manchester City reportedly risk losing winger Raheem Sterling next summer as they are refusing to bow to his contract demands.

The Citizens are currently locked in talks with the 23-year-old regarding a new long-term deal, taking him beyond the end of his existing deal which runs until the end of next season.

According to The Mirror, however, City are unwilling to pay the England international the £300,000 a week he is after, which would put him alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero as the club's top-paid star.

Sterling currently earns £175,000 a week and is rumoured to have been offered an increased salary of £200,000, on top of lucrative success-related bonuses and yearly increases.

An agreement has yet to have been reached between the two parties, though, and the same report states that City may be forced to cash in before the player's £100m valuation decreases any further.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are said to be monitoring the situation.
