Pardew praises "tremendous" result

Alan Pardew says he is pleased with a goalless draw against Manchester United.

Alan Pardew has described last night's goalless draw against Man Utd as a "tremendous" result for the Magpies.

The home side missed a number of opportunities in the first half, then were dominated by Alex Ferguson's squad in the second.

"[United] showed their quality and moved us around," said Pardew afterwards. "Wide players ended up coming through the middle and Rooney ended up on the left wing and they were causing us all sorts of problems.

"But our resilience and our discipline carried us through. We were out on our feet at the end, but it was a tremendous night for Newcastle United."

For their next fixture, Newcastle travel to Blackpool on Saturday. "I think it's important we get our turnaround right and that we approach the game [carefully]," Pardew told the BBC. "We owe it to ourselves and the rest of the League that we put in the same performance at Blackpool as we did tonight."
