Ronald Koeman "satisfied" with Everton point against Manchester City

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is "satisfied" with his side's 1-1 draw away to Manchester City, but admits that they rode their luck at times.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has said that he is "satisfied" with his side's 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.

The Toffees saw just 28% of the ball and survived two penalties to come away with a point against Pep Guardiola's side, with Nolito cancelling out Romelu Lukaku's opener.

Goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg proved the star of the show by saving the two spot kicks and making a number of other notable stops, and Koeman reserved special praise for his compatriot.

"I am satisfied with a point because not many teams leave this stadium with a point. You need to be a little bit lucky and a goalkeeper to have the match of his life, and you need a workrate from your team. A big compliment to the team because we fight. They were the better team, had the chances, missed two penalties but it's final score 1-1," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"I said yesterday to the rest of the staff that we need to be prepared for three defenders from Pep. We took a risk to start with three forward players. That is why we changed after 20 minutes to deal with that. If they miss penalties it's the problem of City.

"We know we are difficult to beat. It's the best team football-wise we have faced this season. I think Romelu Lukaku is one of the most feared in Europe. He doesn't need a lot of chances to score. He worked hard today and it's important for the team."

Everton are the first team to prevent Man City from winning at home since Guardiola took over at the club.
