Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho has admitted that he is in the dark over his international future with Brazil.
The 28-year-old won the last of his five caps against Bosnia and Herzegovina in February 2012.
Fernandinho has said that he has not given up hope of representing Brazil on home soil in the 2014 World Cup.
"Many people ask me why I am not called up, especially after I joined Manchester City. My only answer is that I don't know, some teammates are surprised too, they don't know why that happens," Fernandinho told iG.
"I am in a new stage in England, in a new team and a new position, I work every day thinking about returning [to the national team].
"I'll be happy to help and be part of the national team in any position. What I want is to be called up, the manager can then see later where he fields me."
Fernandinho joined City from Shakhtar Donetsk during the summer transfer window.
