Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has insisted that Pep Guardiola will be a success at Manchester City and will 'win titles by playing good football'.

Guardiola won each of his first 10 games in charge of Man City, but the team are currently on a run of six games without a victory in all competitions and struggled to a 1-0 defeat at Manchester United in the League Cup on Wednesday night.

The Spaniard has faced criticism for his playing style over the last week or so, but Enrique has backed his fellow countryman to prove extremely successful in English football.

"To the critics of Guardiola - he is going to win. He will win titles this season, for sure," Enrique told reporters. "The critics are going to appear because it bothers them that there are always the same people who win.

"And Pep will win by playing good football. I believe you have to have a philosophy and an idea and to stick with that to the end. There is no mathematical rule for success."

Barcelona recorded a 4-0 victory when the Spanish giants welcomed Guardiola's Man City in the Champions League last week.
