How Manchester City could line up against Burton Albion

Ahead of Wednesday's EFL Cup tie between Manchester City and Burton Albion, Sports Mole looks at how Pep Guardiola's side could line up at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City play host to Burton Albion in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday night looking to register a second successive emphatic victory over lower-league opposition.

Pep Guardiola's side prevailed by a 7-0 scoreline against Championship outfit Rotherham United on Sunday afternoon to extend their winning run in all competitions to three matches.

City face the Brewers having reached the last four of the competition through negotiating ties with Oxford United, Fulham and Leicester City.

Guardiola has a strong squad to select from on Wednesday night, and here Sports Mole looks at how his team could line up at the Etihad Stadium.

Out: Benjamin Mendy (knee), Claudio Bravo (Achilles)

Guardiola named an experienced lineup at the weekend, and that will likely lead to changes for the visit of the Staffordshire-based outfit.

Arijanet Muric should get the nod over Ederson between the sticks, while Fabian Delph could feature at left-back after sitting out the last three games through suspension.

Vincent Kompany, Aymeric Laporte, Fernandinho, Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero all played no part against Rotherham, and are expected to be handed recalls for Wednesday's game.

Kevin De Bruyne could be given more minutes after his recovery from a second knee injury, while Phil Foden will expect to be provided with another start in a creative role.
