Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino hopes that Kylian Mbappe will be passed fit for Tuesday's Champions League battle with Manchester City.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino is optimistic that Kylian Mbappe will be fit for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with Manchester City.

The 22-year-old shook off previous fitness concerns to play in the first leg, but a calf problem prevented him from turning out in Saturday's 2-1 Ligue 1 victory over Lens.

Mbappe's absence sparked fears that he would be forced to miss Tuesday's trip to the Etihad, but Pochettino is confident that the France international will be fit in time for the second leg.

Speaking to Canal +, the PSG manager said: "Will Mbappe be there? I'm optimistic. We think he will be there. We will see how it evolves tomorrow. We will decide before the match."

PSG assumed control of the first leg of their semi-final early on when Marquinhos headed home from a corner, but City ultimately claimed a 2-1 win on the Parisiens' turf thanks to second-half strikes from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez.

Should Mbappe be cleared to play, he will be aiming to build on the 37 goals he has already amassed this season, including eight from 10 Champions League outings.
