Liverpool reportedly have no plans to sign Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga as a back-up to Alisson, despite speculation to the contrary.

Liverpool reportedly have no plans to make a deadline-day move for Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga, despite speculation to the contrary.

Further questions were raised over back-up goalkeeper Adrian after he shipped seven goals on his first appearance of the season on Sunday, with Aston Villa running riot against the champions at Villa Park.

Adrian was particularly culpable for the opening goal in the 7-2 defeat, having been named in the side due to a shoulder injury for Alisson Becker which could rule the Brazilian out for up to six weeks.

The defeat raised speculation that Liverpool could make a deadline day move for a new back-up goalkeeper, with Tottenham's Gazzaniga earmarked as a possible target after he fell further down the pecking order at Spurs following the arrival of Joe Hart.

However, the Liverpool Echo claims that the Reds will not be forced into the market for a new shot-stopper, despite the prospect of being without Alisson for a significant chunk of time.

Liverpool have signed Thiago Alcantara, Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota so far this summer and are not expected to bring in any more new players before tonight's 11pm deadline.
