Alberto Aquilani will reportedly return to Liverpool when his loan spell with AC Milan ends at the conclusion of the current campaign.
The 27-year-old had been expected to turn his temporary move to the San Siro into a permanent one in the summer.
However, the Rossoneri coaching staff have since decided that the Italian international is not the answer to their midfield problems, according to reports in Italy.
As a result, Aquilani is now expected to head back to England and become part of Kenny Dalglish's squad.
