Blackburn Rovers squeeze past Leeds United

Blackburn Rovers edge past Leeds United in the Championship.

Blackburn Rovers have beaten Leeds United 1-0 at Ewood Park in the Championship.

Tommy Spurr's header on the stroke of half time was enough for Rovers to edge out the visitors, who struggled to create chances throughout.

With both sides trying to grab an opening goal at Ewood Park, it was Jordan Rhodes who had the best chances for Rovers before Spurr's winner.

The Scottish international had a few efforts in the first half that went close, while the visitors were unable to create much in the final third.

With the half petering out it was Spurr who rose highest from David Dunn's corner to head home in stoppage time.

After the restart Joshua King's thunderous volley was well saved by Paddy Kenny just after the hour mark, while Radolph Austin fired into the side-netting for Leeds on 74 minutes.
