Ross McCormack's 13th goal of the season has given Leeds United a 1-0 half-time lead over Middlesbrough at Elland Road.
McCormack - who scored four goals in Leeds's 4-2 victory over Charlton Athletic a fortnight ago - went close within the opening two minutes as Leeds rushed out of the blocks.
Dexter Blackstock passed up a good chance to put the home side ahead in the 23rd minute when his effort flew over the bar from Lee Peltier's right-wing cross and Jason Steele made a sprawling save to deny Danny Pugh.
However, with 35 minutes of the clock, McCormack showed his predatory instincts to nod the ball home from three yards to give Leeds the advantage after 45 minutes.
