Championship week 33 predictions including West Brom vs. Nottingham Forest

Sports Mole provides score predictions for all 12 of this weekend's Championship matches, including West Bromwich Albion vs. Nottingham Forest.

Hull vs. Swansea (Friday, 7.45pm)

Swansea boss Steve Cooper on February 1, 2020© Reuters

Hull City's search for their first Championship win since New Year's Day will continue on Friday night when they welcome Swansea City to the KCOM Stadium.

The Tigers suffered a 3-0 defeat at Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday, while Swansea will enter this match off the back of a goalless draw at home to Queens Park Rangers on the same night.

We say: Hull City 1-2 Swansea City

Hull continue to slide down the table as they struggle for results, and it is difficult to back the hosts with any real confidence here. Swansea are also without a win in their last four in the Championship, but we fancy Cooper's side to pick up an important three points in this match.

West Brom vs. Nottingham Forest (Saturday, 12.30pm)

West Brom boss Slaven Bilic on February 1, 2020© Reuters

Arguably the pick of this weekend's Championship fixtures will take place at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon as West Bromwich Albion prepare to welcome Nottingham Forest.

West Brom extended their lead at the top of the table to six points on Wednesday night, while Forest currently sit fifth, just two points off second-placed Leeds United.

We say: West Brom 2-1 Nottingham Forest

This is a difficult one to call for obvious reasons, but West Brom will enter the match off the back of three straight league victories while Forest have lost two of their last three. It is set to be a tight game at the Hawthorns, but we are backing the home side to record a narrow victory.

Birmingham vs. Brentford (Saturday, 3pm)

Brentford make the trip to St Andrew's to face Birmingham City on Saturday knowing that victory could be enough to take the club into second place in the Championship standings.

Meanwhile, Blues head into the contest in the West Midlands having recorded three successive wins, a run which has moved Pep Clotet's side clear of a relegation battle.

We say: Birmingham City 1-2 Brentford

While Birmingham are the form team heading into this game, we cannot back against Brentford, who have shown numerous times this season that they respond well to disappointing results. However, the Bees will have to play to their best to out-work their hosts.

Cardiff vs. Wigan (Saturday, 3pm)

Cardiff City head into their fixture with Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon as one of the form teams in the Championship after putting together a six-match unbeaten streak

As for Wigan, they travel to South Wales sitting four points adrift of safety, despite recording seven points from their last four outings.

We say: Cardiff City 2-1 Wigan Athletic

With the stakes rising for Cardiff, this game may turn into a difficult encounter for the Bluebirds. However, with Wigan having improved of late, there will be no complacency, and it could help the home side grind out a narrow success.

Charlton vs. Blackburn (Saturday, 3pm)

Charlton Athletic welcome Blackburn Rovers to The Valley on Saturday afternoon after opening up a six-point gap between themselves and the Championship relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Blackburn make the long trip to London having won three of their last five outings at the second tier, keeping the club in the hunt for a playoff spot.

We say: Charlton Athletic 1-1 Blackburn Rovers

Both of these teams will fancy their chances of victory at the weekend. However, with each club having impressed of late, we feel that they could cancel each other out, something which would benefit Charlton more than the visitors.

Derby vs. Huddersfield (Saturday, 3pm)

Derby manager Phillip Cocu on February 8, 2020© Reuters

Mid-table Derby County host relegation-threatened Huddersfield Town on Saturday as both sides look to bounce back from defeats in their most recent outings.

The Rams are 10 points off the playoff places and 13 clear of the dropzone, while the 20th-placed Terriers are only five points ahead of 22nd-placed Wigan Athletic.

We say: Derby County 2-1 Huddersfield Town

Both sides have exhibited patchy form of late and, while Huddersfield are certainly a better side than they were at the start of the campaign, Derby's home record is difficult to ignore.

Fulham vs. Barnsley (Saturday, 3pm)

Fulham boss Scott Parker on February 1, 2020© Reuters

Fulham will be hoping for a routine win over bottom-of-the-league Barnsley as they chase an automatic promotion spot in the Championship table.

Barnsley are in a dire run of form and the London outfit will be hoping for three points to keep the pressure on second-placed Leeds United, who are ahead on goal difference alone.

We say: Fulham 2-0 Barnsley

Fulham are in fine form and have plenty of motivation as they close in on the automatic promotion places. With their strong home record - and Barnsley's dismal away record - as an additional boost, this should be a routine win over the team at the bottom of the table.

Leeds vs. Bristol City (Saturday, 3pm)

Shocked Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa on February 8, 2020© Reuters

Leeds United will be looking for just their second Championship win of 2020 when they welcome Bristol City to Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.

Marcelo Bielsa's side remain second in the table despite a poor run of form, while Bristol City are just outside the playoffs in seventh having won five of their last six in England's second tier.

We say: Leeds 1-1 Bristol City

Leeds are certainly due a win, but it is difficult to back them with any real confidence this weekend when considering Bristol City's form. The visitors have so much quality in the final third, and we fancy Johnson's side to pick up a share of the spoils at Elland Road.

Middlesbrough vs. Luton (Saturday, 3pm)

Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate on January 21, 2020© Reuters

Middlesbrough will be hoping to avoid the same fate as Sheffield Wednesday when they host Luton Town on Saturday.

The newly-promoted side are 23rd in the Championship table and are seven points from safety, but Boro must guard against complacency if they are to avoid dropping points in a winnable fixture.

We say: Middlesbrough 1-0 Luton Town

Neither side is in particularly strong form and, despite Luton's morale-boosting win against Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough could put an end to their winless run with a narrow win on home soil.

Preston vs. Millwall (Saturday, 3pm)

Millwall's Connor Mahoney celebrates scoring their third goal on January 1, 2020© Reuters

Preston North End host Millwall at Deepdale on Saturday in an intriguing clash between two sides hoping to secure a spot in the Championship playoffs.

Alex Neil's side are currently in sixth place but are only ahead of Bristol City on goal difference, and a further seven points clear of Gary Rowett's Millwall.

We say: Preston North End 2-1 Millwall

Preston are one of the form sides in the Championship and the division's best home side, so they should have enough against Millwall. With the playoffs in the sights of Neil's team, they should not slip up in this one.

QPR vs. Stoke (Saturday, 3pm)

Nick Powell celebrates scoring for Stoke City on February 8, 2020© Reuters

Queens Park Rangers welcome Stoke City to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on Saturday, with both sides looking to steer clear of the relegation places.

Stoke suffered their first home league defeat since November in the week against Preston North End, while QPR drew 0-0 with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

We say: QPR 1-1 Stoke City

Stoke have made an impressive recovery under O'Neill but that progress has been stunted in recent weeks with a few poor results. QPR have also been in poor form, so expect this to be a tight affair with neither side able to find the upper hand.

Sheffield Wednesday vs. Reading (Saturday, 3pm)

Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk pictured in January 2020© Reuters

Sheffield Wednesday face Reading at Hillsborough on Saturday, with both sides struggling for form and seeing their playoff hopes fall away.

Garry Monk's side suffered a poor defeat to bottom-of-the-table Luton Town in the week, while Reading suffered a 2-1 defeat to league leaders West Bromwich Albion.

We say: Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Reading

In a battle between two sides struggling for form in the Championship, there is little to choose between them. Sheffield Wednesday are higher in the league but given their form, a draw is the most likely result.
