Roy Hodgson: 'I may not use every England player in friendlies'

England boss Roy Hodgson hints that he may not use each player in his squad during the two friendly internationals with Germany and the Netherlands.

England manager Roy Hodgson has said that he cannot guarantee that all of his 22-man squad will feature in the friendlies against Germany and the Netherlands.

The two fixtures represent Hodgson's last opportunity to experiment with his team ahead of Euro 2016, but he has hinted that he will not necessarily ensure that each player is given playing time in Berlin or at Wembley Stadium.

Hodgson is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I'm confident that the team I've selected is a good team to take on the might of Germany.

"These matches will be very important occasions and there's no doubt what I've seen in training this week and what I see in these games will have an impact. It's by no means a be-all and end-all situation but we are taking the games very seriously.

"I can't absolutely guarantee every single player will feature in the two matches but our intention is to use the whole squad to look at people and give them the chance to impress."

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose, Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater and Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton are the only members of the squad yet to represent the senior side.
