Result: Fojut winner sends Dundee United through

Dundee United edge out local rivals Dundee with a 1-0 win in the Scottish Cup third round thanks to Jaroslaw Fojut's header.

Dundee United moved into the fourth round of the Scottish League Cup at the expense of local rivals Dundee after a 1-0 win this evening.

Jaroslaw Fojut's stoppage-time strike was enough to seal the result for United, who played with a man advantage for most of the time.

The visiting Dundee were forced to play over nearly 70 minutes with 10 men after Martin Boyle was given a straight red card.

Paul McGowan went close for the visitors with a long-range effort minutes after Fojut had been denied with a header in the second half.

However, with extra time on the horizon Fojut popped up with a header two minutes into added-on time to seal their progress into the next round.
