Colombia finish top of their group at the Under-20 World Cup following a 3-0 win over El Salvador this evening.

Colombia have finished top of their group at the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey following a 3-0 win over El Salvador this evening.

Colombia dominated possession from the start, but El Salvador created some good chances in the opening 20 minutes.

Colombia were awarded a free kick on the edge of penalty area after Andres Renteria was brought down, giving the Santos Laguna striker the opportunity to curl the ball in and hand his country the lead.

Colombia were given the chance to double their advantage just four minutes later as Olivier brought Renteria down in the the box, forcing the referee to point to the penalty spot.

CF Jaguares forward Jhon Cordoba stepped up to take the spot kick, smashing the ball to the right of goalkeeper Rolando Morales.

Knowing that the result would secure them top spot in the group, Colombia chose to rest some of their first-team members in the second half, giving their opponents more time on the ball.

However, Juan Quintero popped up in the final moments of the game to add a third, securing a comfortable victory for Colombia.
