Barcelona president Joan Laporta affirms that wantaway youngster Ilaix Moriba will not be permitted to leave for free as contract talks fail to bear fruit.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has expressed his disappointment towards Ilaix Moriba as talks over a new deal fail to bear fruit.

The 18-year-old has been demoted back down to the B team while the two parties fail to find a solution over his contract, which is now due to expire in under 12 months' time.

Moriba's high wage demands are thought to be holding up negotiations, and Laporta has affirmed that the Blaugrana will not allow the youngster to walk away for free next year.

Addressing reporters during the presentation of Emerson Royal at Camp Nou, Laporta said: "We'll try for this case not to repeat itself. He has a year left and doesn't want to renew. It's a situation we don't accept and we have to act.

"He's a great player and, if he doesn't renew, he knows he will have other solutions. We don't want players, who we've made here at home, who don't want to renew with a year left.

"He's been given opportunities, but the club is above all and they can't make this kind of move on us. I hope the situation can be recovered. I feel bad that he doesn't recognise what we've done for him. We won't let him leave for free.

"Whoever wants to leave is free to do so, but with some conditions. Unfortunately, that's how it is."

Moriba scored one goal and assisted three more in 14 La Liga games for Barca last term, and he is thought to be on the radar of both Manchester City and Chelsea.
