Stefano Eranio: 'Fernando Torres can recapture form at Milan'

AC Milan coach Stefano Eranio claims that Fernando Torres was misused at Chelsea and will prove to be a valuable player for Milan once he has regained his confidence.

AC Milan coach Stefano Eranio has insisted that they can help Fernando Torres recapture his best form.

The Spanish striker moved to the San Siro on a two-year loan from Chelsea last month and is unlikely to play again for the Premier League club who broke the British transfer record to buy him in 2011.

He scored only 20 goals in 110 appearances after making the £50m switch to Stamford Bridge, but Eranio claims that Torres was misused at Chelsea and will be a valuable player for Milan once his confidence has been rebuilt.

"Torres is a very humble player, he has great technical and human qualities," Eranio told Milan News. "In recent years he has not been in contention much and has spent a long time on the Chelsea bench.

"But he is like a car, he needs to play to find his form. He needs the confidence of the coach and to make the most of his surroundings.

"As a coach, I say that I would always want someone like Torres in the team. He arrives in Italy with great enthusiasm, and has specific characteristics that would suit Milan perfectly."

Eranio featured in the Premier League for Derby County between 1997 and 2001 and has been coaching at Milan, for whom he made 98 appearances for as a player, since 2005.
