Papy Djilobodji: 'I wasn't given chance at Chelsea'

Defender Papy Djilobodji says that he was not given a chance to impress at Chelsea before he was eventually sold to Sunderland earlier this summer.

Defender Papy Djilobodji has claimed that he deserved more of a chance at Chelsea after he played just 59 seconds at the club before leaving for Sunderland.

Last summer, Djilobodji was a surprise £2.7m signing for the Blues and his only appearance for the club came as a last-minute substitute against Walsall in a League Cup fixture.

The Senegalese centre-back insists that he has moved on from his Stamford Bridge debacle after moving to the Stadium of Light, but he admits that he would like a "little revenge" on Jose Mourinho after being left on the sidelines.

The 27-year-old told So Foot: "I always said I wanted to play for a great club, make a nice career, and Chelsea is a great club There, I was doing all I could - I worked in training, I showed that I was an option. But I never got my chance, the coach never let me play.

"I want a little revenge, because at Chelsea, I never got my chance. I worked in training, and all went well. After that it depends on whether the coach likes you or dislikes you.

"I always dreamed of playing in the Premier League but for me, now, the Chelsea page is turned, and I'm concentrating on Sunderland."

Djilobodji has made five starts for the Black Cats since the club paid Chelsea £8m for his signature.
