The Burnley manager believes his side have been due some good fortune.

Sean Dyche suggested Burnley had been due some luck following the 2-1 win over Fulham in which they profited from two own goals and did not register an effort on target.

After Andre Schurrle had put the Cottagers 1-0 up at Turf Moor with a superb early strike, Fulham defenders Joe Bryan and Denis Odoi each inadvertently beat goalkeeper Sergio Rico in quick succession.

Jeff Hendrick's effort was diverted past Rico by Bryan in the 20th minute and three minutes later Odoi headed in after Hendrick had crossed.

Calum Chambers subsequently headed against Burnley's bar, and Fulham substitute Luciano Vietto was denied after the break by a James Tarkowski goal-line block and Tom Heaton save.

Burnley boss Dyche said: "I don't think we have had mountains of luck this season, and I've always said, you still need a rub of luck. Everyone needs that.

"And I thought today we had that with the second goal (the Odoi own goal).

"We get a break with the second own goal, but the first one, I hope they give that to Jeff because I've looked at it and it's on its way in anyway, and it hits the lad and goes in.

"By the way – another penalty not given, in the same incident. Tarky (Tarkowski) is dragged to the ground. We got a break from that one by Jeff scoring.

"The second one is a strange one. It's actually a really good move, a really good counter. Their lad has to try to defend, and it goes in.

"I think after Fulham got such a good start, the mentality of our players to come back from that and deliver a performance that could win is fantastic."

When it was put to Dyche that the win – Burnley's third victory in a row in the Premier League – was achieved without an effort being registered on target, he said: "I know, strange.

"I don't think we performed as well today as we have in the previous two games, but you've got to find a way to win.

"Generally our performance was good, but on the attacking front, I think we've been really, really good the last two games and thoroughly deserved the goals we've got.

"Today we've had to find a different way to win, but we've done that many times in the Premier League and that's part of our make-up. We have to do that.

"And I think that is a pleasing thing, to win the ones that are really tight. We are good at getting those games won or getting something from them, and we showed that today."

While Burnley went three points clear of the relegation zone as they moved up a place to 15th, second-bottom Fulham, who have won only one of their last nine league games, were left five points adrift of safety.

Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri said: "We scored very, very early, a great goal, and suddenly they score twice with two own goals. This period is very strange.

"We played well, we deserve minimum the draw. But it's OK – that is football. I am satisfied with the performance, not with the result.

"What we can do? They shoot at goal, not touch the goal but touch my players. That's it.

"There are good moments and bad moments. For us in this moment, it is a bad moment. But we never give up, we continue to believe that at the end we will be safe."
