Freiburg hosted Bayern Munich in Tuesday night's only Bundesliga game, with the match brought forward due to the visitors' appearance in the Super Cup on Friday.

Bayern created enough chances to win two matches, but their only goal came through Xherdan Shaqiri in the first half.

Oliver Baumann was heroic in the Freiburg goal, with save after save finally culminating in a late equaliser through Nicolas Hofler.

Read below to see how Freiburg claimed a huge point against the Bundesliga champions.

Good evening fussball fans! Tonight we have a treat. A Bundesliga game brought forward because of Bayern Munich's participation in the Super Cup on Friday. They travel to Freiburg this evening.

Freiburg, of course, are no mugs. They achieved a more than respectable fifth place in the league last season. However, as so often happens to an unfashionable side that manages success they have had many of their key players bought by other teams. Christian Streich has brought in others, of course, but things need time to gel for them.

Bayern, to a different scale, need time to gel as well. Their squad is largely the same with one or two improvements - Mario Gotze mainly - but a new coach has brought a new system and, despite maximum points, they have not looked at their fluent best that brought the treble last season.

I have the teams in, so I won't leave you waiting for those.

BREAKING TEAM NEWS: It's not a full-strength Bayern side. Far from it, in fact. Guardiola might have one eye on the Super Cup, which could come back to haunt him tonight.

FREIBURG XI: Baumann; Gunter, Diagne, Ginter, Sorg; Schuster, Fernandes, Schmid, Laprev, Guede; Freis

BAYERN XI: Neuer; Rafinha, Van Buyten, Dante, Contento; Schweinsteiger, Kroos; Muller, Gotze, Shaqiri, Pizarro

Ok, I did say it wasn't full-strength, but that doesn't mean it's not still very strong. Most of those players would find a home in first-teams across Europe, yet that is a Bayern without their first-choice at left-back, right-back, centre-back, both wings and up front. Yikes.

It's the second start running for Mario Gotze, as well. For Freiburg, Sebastian Freis starts up top, although he has not been the most prolific since joining last summer.

PREDICTION: With five minutes to kickoff, I suppose I should make a prediction. I've not been very accurate lately but I'll be staggered if I'm wrong about a Bayern win tonight. I'm going for 2-0 - not vintage, but more than good enough.

Freiburg will possibly fancy their chances of getting stuck into that Bayern defence. Whether they'll succeed, it's hard to say. Bayern certainly have the firepower to cause damage.

KICKOFF: Freiburg get us away. Here we go.

Bayern, as to be expected, start with plenty of possession football. No chances at either end as yet, but it's a typical Pep display to begin with.

Pizarro steps over a free kick and wins a corner, despite it really being a poor delivery. The first man headed it behind his own goal.

Pizarro is drifting off the centre to both the left and the right. A lot of Bayern's play is coming through Shaqiri down the left at the moment, but Freiburg are being strong in the air and tough in the tackle.

It seems that whatever player slots in to whatever position at Bayern he has that vital understanding with the rest of the team. Freiburg come forward with intent, but Freis'pass for Guede is deflected behind, with nothing coming from the corner.

CHANCE! First that is a fine, fine stop from Manuel Neuer to keep out Sorg's powerful drive from range. The rebound balls to Freis from about six yards out. He is at an angle, but he just needs to do better than slice it high over the bar.

SAVE: In the last few minutes Freiburg have upped their pressing, which has led to some really poor play form Bayern in their own half. Bayern break with Kroos shooting from 25 yards. It had power, but was straight at Baumann, although he still needed to deal with it.

SAVE: Better stop that from Baumann, who flies to his right to keep out a great effort from Shaqiri and tip it round the post.

CLOSE! Bayern are back on top in what has been a brilliant opening to the game. They come forward again with Pizarro flicking over the advancing Baumann, but Ginter does really well to draw the foul and win the header anyway under his own bar as Muller closed in.

It has finally settled down in the last two minutes. Bayern are still seeing more of the ball, Freiburg are still trying to press, but there have been no more chances to speak of.

Something just hasn't quite clicked this season so far with Bayern. The movement and passing between the front four is certainly off in this game - Mario Mandzukic, who can draw the defenders deep is so vital to this side I think.

As I say that, they've suddenly hit a spell of really nice movement, with Freiburg unable to get a touch at the moment. Kroos does well to let the ball run across him to create space, but his pass is blocked and Bayern go all the way back.

Half-chance for Pizarro there. Muller does brilliantly to win a header wide right and cuts it back to Pizarro. He twists and turns, but doesn't get the space and his shot is blocked.

Usually Bayern deal really well with sides pressing them, as their players have that natural talent of finding the smallest pockets of space. At the moment, however, Freiburg's came is unsettling them and really it's been about even in terms of chances.

Lovely from Shaqiri, who pulls off the Zidane 360 to stop Freiburg winning the ball for a break. He was going away from goal, however, and has to go back to Van Buyten.

GOAL! Freiburg 0-1 Bayern (Xherdan Shaqiri)

It's poor defending from Sorg, but it's still really well taken by Shaqiri. Muller does really well down the right to beat two men and cross deep. Sorg misjudges his positioning, which allows Shaqiri to take a touch and slam beyond Baumann. You simply cannot defend like that if you are to keep out Bayern.

Freiburg coach Streich is absolutely furious with his side. It's understandable as they have defended from the front but have gone behind from one mistake. It's hard to see them getting back in it, even with how well they've played.

CHANCE: That's much better movement. Gotze dummies then gets the ball played through by Pizarro with one touch. However he's quite wide and cannot touch his effort on target with Baumann advancing on him.

The movement between the attacking three behind Pizarro is much more fluid now. Before it was Shaqiri making all the runs, but now Muller and Gotze are swapping positions with ease. Muller tries to control a ball from Contento, but his touch is understandably heavy and Baumann gathers.

Laprevotte is down in a heap here after a 50-50 with Van Buyten. But he just slipped on to his back, which the referee recognises. He starts with a rop ball and here we go again.

Gotze has a chance to cross down the right after Muller delightfully flicked it into his path. However, he was quickly closed down and his crosses blocked, with the former Dortmund man eventually running it out of play.

Bayern are finishing the half strongly. Kroos's attempted cross is blocked to Baumann. If they get a goal now that would surely be it.

HALF-TIME: Freiburg 0-1 Bayern Munich

Without a second of stoppage time, the half comes to an end. And it has been brilliant. Freiburg for the most part have given as good as they have got, but the pressure and technique of Bayern just shone through in the end. They're ahead and sides do not often come from behind against them.

It's hard to see what else Freiburg could have done. Perhaps they could have got more of the ball, but that is always a big ask with the patient probing style of Bayern. They have defended from the front and been solid at the back. Bayern were able to create the one excellent chance to go ahead.

Freiburg's best chance fell to Freis. Following a clearance from a free kick, Sorg fired a shot goalwards which was pushed away really well by Neuer. It fell to Freis from an angle, and he blazed high and wide.

STATISTICS:

Possession: 30-70
Shots: 5-6
On target: 2-4
Corner: 3-2

We're almost ready for the second half. Freiburg are, certainly, we just need the Bayern players to join them.

KICKOFF: Bayern get us back underway then. No substitutions at the break for either side.

Bayern win an early corner, which Gotze goes across to take. Awful it is. Terrible. Straight into the arms of Baumann.

Really dodgy bit of defending there from Van Buyten, who tries to clear with his heel but almost sets up a chance for Laprevotte. At the other end Gotze tries to control a fired-in pass by Muller, but Diagne is across to clear behind.

No real chances as yet in the half. Just as in the first half, Bayern have the lion's share of possession. Freiburg are not pressing quite so high at the moment, which has slowed the pace right down.

Really good chance there for Freiburg to break, but Christian Gunter directs his pass straight at Kroos. Bayern have it back but their cutting edge has largely gone missing as Shaqiri finds Ginter instead of his teammate Muller.

CHANCE! That should be 2-0. It's a really well worked move as Gotze lets it run across him before playing Shaqiri in down the left. However, the shot is all too easily stopped by Baumann.

Freiburg have seen a little more of the ball in the last few minutes, but the spark in the final third is seriously lacking. Too many times have they tried the long ball which has been cut out.

CHANCE! Shaqiri again with the chance and once more he should score. He is left in acres for the second time in the half, but this time he drills it with power and Baumann keeps it out.

SAVE! What a save by Neuer! Freis cuts inside on the edge of the box and bends towards the corner, but the smallest of fingertips puts it against the post and wide. Such a small touch the referee didn't spot it and gives the goal kick.

FREIBURG SUBS: First Laprevotte makes way for Kerk, with Nicolas Hofler on for captain Schuster. There's also a switch for Bayern as Philipp Lahm is on for Gotze.

BOOKING: That didn't take long. Hofler is already shown the yellow card. It was a late tackle, and fair enough really. He has to be careful now so soon after coming on.

BOOKING: It's getting a little bit tasty out there now. The youngster Gunter follows his teammate into the book after catching Muller. Frustration setting in for the hosts.

Magnificent from Bayern! Neuer plays the most dangerous of one-twos with Dante in his own area - Freiburg were closing in but that's calmness personified from the Germany goalkeeper. Lahm looks to have stayed on the right since he's come on, as Rafinha has stayed back.

BOOKING: First card for Bayern there, and he's taken that for the team. Guede skinned him all too easily with the centre-back clinging on to his shirt following it.

CHANCES: All the while this is 1-0 Freiburg have a chance. But in truth they have created so little. It should be 2-0 once more with Baumann making a double save, first from Kroos and then Muller - although the latter might have been a block. Muller is through again and Baumann stops him with his feet! So many saves!

CHANCE! All of a sudden Freiburg could well be level. After Mike Hanke comes on for Guede, Sebastian Kerk has a free header at the back post but picked out Neuer! Fantastic game, this.

BAYERN SUB: Schweinsteiger has taken a knock and asks for a change. He's coming off gingerly, with Franck Ribery coming on to take his place.

Freiburg have started to press really high again, with Hofler getting a bit tight to Shaqiri and bringing down the Swiss. Bayern are still strong, but they can't get past Baumann right now - can he earn his side a point?

Ribery uses his pace early to trouble Sorg. He went past the right-back like he wasn't there, but his powerful effort from the corner of the box goes over. Bayern now using their own version of time-wasting, with tight passing triangles allowing them to hold the ball.

GOAL! Freiburg 1-1 Bayern (Hofler)

Well. I. Never! What a fantastic finish that is from Hofler, who kept his head over the ball to volley into the top corner from about six yards out. Freis did brilliantly to cross it to him and the sub beat the offside trap to level the scores! So late in the game.

BAYERN SUB: Mandzukic is on now for Pizarro. From a corner the ball bobbles around a bit and Dante pokes towards goal, but it goes flying over. Only a few minutes left for Bayern.

The crowd are deafening now as they sense an unlikely result. Three minutes to be added on. Three minutes for Bayern to come up with a way past Baumann!

Just two of those remain as Freiburg have a throw. Sorg takes his time over it then throws it as far as he can. It's back with Neuer...

Freiburg have the chance three-on-three to counter, but it eventually breaks down at the last. Hanke is offside with 30 seconds left.

FULL-TIME: Freiburg 1-1 Bayern

Unbelievable. Bayern created enough in that game to win three matches. Baumann was absolutely fantastic in the home goal and his heroics were worth something in the end with the late equaliser. Breathless stuff in the Bundesliga, and Freiburg take the first point off Bayern this season.

Thanks for joining me tonight, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Make sure to stick around as well, as the League Cup is getting underway very soon, with the results and reaction all here on Sports Mole. Goodbye.
