Barcelona team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Elche

Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their La Liga showdown with Elche on Wednesday evening.

Barcelona will be desperate to put the results of the past week behind them when they welcome Elche to Camp Nou for Wednesday evening's La Liga battle.

Ronald Koeman's side followed up their 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain with a 1-1 draw against Cadiz at the weekend, where Lionel Messi's penalty was cancelled out by Alex Fernandez's spot kick.

However, the Catalan giants remain in outside contention for title glory as they sit eight points behind leaders Atletico Madrid in third, with current champions Real Madrid five ahead having played a game more.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of the visit of 17th-placed Elche.

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

Sergi Roberto had only just made his comeback from a muscular problem before being forced off in the Copa del Rey victory over Granada on February 3, and the right-back's thigh injury is expected to keep him out of this game.

Ronald Araujo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

While the Catalans have welcomed Gerard Pique back quicker than expected, they lost another important centre-back in Ronald Araujo to a sprained ankle against Real Betis on February 7, and it would be a surprise to see him return before the end of the month.

Philippe Coutinho

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Philippe Coutinho has gone under the knife to address the knee injury he sustained against Eibar back in December, and the playmaker is facing at least another few weeks on the sidelines.

Ansu Fati

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Ansu Fati continues to recuperate from a serious knee injury which derailed his explosive start to the season, and a return in the spring seems the most likely for the teenager.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barca have no players suspended for Wednesday's game.
