Norwich City have been relegated from the Premier League courtesy of a 2-0 defeat at home to Arsenal, with goals from Aaron Ramsey and Carl Jenkinson consigning the Canaries to the Championship next season.

Although the Canaries - who were virtually relegated prior to the game, barring a 17-goal swing against West Bromwich Albion - made a bright start to proceedings at Carrow Road, the Gunners were responsible for the first effort in the 10th minute.

Mikel Arteta marauded into the Norwich box before finding Lukas Podolski, but the German's low effort flew wide of the post.

Midway through the first half, Nathan Redmond was responsible for a half-chance from distance, but Lukasz Fabianski leapt across his goal to make a comfortable save.

The latter stages of the first period were all Arsenal, as Olivier Giroud and Podolski combined several times to trouble John Ruddy, while Ramsey was denied by Michael Turner.

Eventually, Arsene Wenger's side broke the deadlock a few minutes after the restart when Ramsey struck a deadly volley into the top corner following a floated pass from Giroud.

Jenkinson then put the Canaries out of their misery just after the hour, the youngster stabbing the ball past Ruddy into the bottom corner following scrappy play in the box.

The home side became invigorated following Arsenal's second goal, with efforts coming in from Redmond and Robert Snodgrass in the latter stages of the game.

However, they couldn't do enough to sully the visitors' clean sheet, never mind save themselves from relegation, as their three-year stint in the top flight came to an end.
